Budget 2026: what it means for you and your business —

Registered Office Facility

In short

Your company’s registered office address appears on the public register at Companies House, and for most owner-managed companies that means their home address is publicly searchable. We provide a registered office and director’s service address at any of our five offices, receive and forward your statutory mail promptly, and keep your home address private.

This is a small service that solves a real problem. A registered office address is a matter of public record — searchable by anyone, indexed by Google, and used by every marketing list and, occasionally, by people you would rather not have your home address.

What does the service include?

A registered office address at your choice of our five offices — Luton, Kettering, Leicester (Ibstock), Welwyn Garden City or Guernsey.

A director’s service address, which is the separate address that appears against you personally on the register.

Mail handling — we receive statutory post from Companies House and HMRC, scan it, and forward it to you promptly. Nothing time-sensitive is lost or delayed.

Compliance with the ECCTA “appropriate address” requirement — a registered office must now be an address where documents can be delivered and acknowledged. A PO box no longer qualifies.

Can I use a PO box or a virtual address?

Not for the registered office. Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, a registered office must be an “appropriate address” — one where a document delivered would be expected to come to the attention of a person acting for the company, and where delivery can be acknowledged.

A PO box does not satisfy this. Companies House can, and does, take action against companies with an inappropriate registered office, including moving it to a default address and beginning strike-off.

Why keep my home address off the register?

Because it is permanent, public and indexed. Directors receive unsolicited mail, cold calls and occasionally worse. Historic records persist even after you change the address later — which is why using a service address from formation is far better than trying to remove your home address afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Is my registered office address public?

Yes — it appears on the public register at Companies House and is searchable by anyone. For most owner-managed companies that means their home address is publicly visible, and historic records persist even after you later change it. A service address from the outset avoids the problem entirely.

Can I use a PO box as my registered office?

No. Under ECCTA, a registered office must be an 'appropriate address' — one where a delivered document would come to the attention of someone acting for the company, and where delivery can be acknowledged. A PO box doesn't qualify, and Companies House can move your registered office and begin strike-off.

What's the difference between a registered office and a service address?

The registered office is the company's official address. A director's service address is the address recorded against you personally as an individual. Both are public. You can use our address for either or both, keeping your home address off the register in each case.
